What we found scoping civic issue-reporting tools
A survey of how residents currently report infrastructure problems, and where the gaps actually are before we write a line of Report It.
Before a project gets a repository, it usually gets some digging — what already exists, why it doesn't quite fit, and what the actual shape of the problem is. This is where that groundwork lives.

We're not trying to publish academic papers — this is closer to a public lab notebook. Before committing to an approach, we try to understand the existing landscape: what's been tried, what similar tools exist, and why people aren't already using them. Publishing that groundwork means the reasoning behind a project's shape is visible, not just the finished result.
If you've researched a problem space we're working in — or you know prior art we should be looking at — we'd genuinely like to hear about it.
